Kultida Woods, the mother of "Golf Emperor" Tiger Woods (49), passed away on the 4th (local time) at the age of 80.
Woods said on his social media (SNS) X (formerly Twitter), "I am very sad to report that my mother died early this morning."
The cause of death of Kultida, who watched her son's screen golf league TGL match at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, last week, is unknown.
Woods' father Earl died in 2006.
Kultida was born in Thailand and met Earl, a U.S. Army Special Forces agent who was dispatched to Thailand during the Vietnam War, and married him.
"My mother was a tremendous person in her own right, and her spirit was indescribably strong," Woods said. "She was dexterous and had a lot of laughter."
"My mother was my biggest fan and supporter," he said, adding, "Without my mother, my achievement would not have been possible."
Kultida helped Woods grow into a world-class golfer.
At the 2019 Masters, Woods shared the moment when he rose to the top of a major tournament for the first time in 11 years after recovering from a slump, when Woods picked up his son Charlie on the 18th hole and visited his mother to hug him.
The red top and black top that Woods wore on Sunday, the final day of the tournament, were also influenced by his mother.
Woods said, "My mother instilled strength and determination," adding, "It was my mother who gave me the idea to use red as a 'power color' in the game." 스포츠토토
